The Dot Spot: Adventures in love and sex is South Africa’s first, fun and frank ‘how-to’ guide on untangling the mysteries of sex, love and relationships. The other day a friend and I were chatting and wondering about the fact that sex has become so difficult to talk about for so many. As mothers of young boys under the age of 10, we were pondering when and how was best to broach the subject with their curious little minds, but not yet! After much discussion we came to the conclusion that sex is a part of everyday life and is as necessary as eating, working and using ablutions. So why is it shrouded in so much awkwardness for so many?
Thank goodness Dorothy Black is around because she is the lady in the know and will sort it out for you in one simple read... "The Dot Spot". Written in Dot’s upfront, entertaining and sassy style, the book uncovers everything you’ve ever wanted to know about dating and relationships, from kink to sexual self- empowerment. Dorothy says, "Writing about sex” was more than just banging on about genitals, lost loves, vibrators and the Kama Sutra. Instead, it became an exploration into one of the most potent, honest aspects of our humanity – our sexual selves and the relationships we create. It was like being given VIP entrance to the sweaty, intimate back room hidden behind the polite interactions people hand each other." So, if you are about to embark on your first foray into the adventure of sex, are single and trying to figure things out or have been happily married for some time, this is the book for you. I would think it is suitable for anyone from the age of 18 to 100, male or female, gay or straight, whether you need advice on spicing things up or even just getting things going. Dorothy Black pretty much has it covered in "The Dot Spot"...Adventures in Love and Sex. Adrian Furstenburg took the honours in his section with this delightful creation, called the "Collette". What is your inspiration for this sketch? The signature shape of the GUESS? logo is the red triangle. I used this shape and the point of my inspiration with classic red and blue trims as detail below the logo and the word GUESS? will be embroidered to wrap around the front and side area of the bag . The shape is a classic carry bag where the materials and colors brings a fun and sporty edge. Why did you select these particular materials to work for your sketch? Mock leather is perfect for construction and to get the exact color for this fun and sporty type of look. What is your design background? I have a Diploma in Textile Design and Technology, obtained from the Tshwane University of Technology in 2006. I currently have my own label where I do all the drawings with pen and paper and illustrate it on Adobe Photoshop Do you currently design your own handbags collection? If so, would your GUESS? Design fit into your current line? Yes I do. Indeed it will, as I want to create a fun and sporty type of range later in the year. What materials do you normally work with? I usually work with leather, mock-leather and canvas type fabrics. What can you offer to the GUESS? aesthetic? I have a vibrant design background, with experience in costume design in Paris through to having my own handbag label in South Africa. Therefor my experience in illustration, design, marketing and understanding of a brand essence is what I can offer to GUESS?.
