Bistro Michel, the popular Parisienne-styled restaurant located in the BluBird Shopping Centre (just off Corlett Drive), has launched its new summer menu. Seven new salads – perfect for the warmer weather – have been introduced, as well as a bigger selection of meat cuts in the main menu and prawns. Bistro Michel’s famous hamburgers remain on the list of options.
Says owner and chef Michel Morand: “We want to offer diners food made with the freshest, seasonal ingredients that appeal to all palates.”
Salads include smoked trout with cucumber ribbons on a bed of leaves, drizzled with Tzatziki dressing; duck and rice noodle salad served with cabbage, carrots, coriander and almonds tossed with a lemon, ginger, honey and sesame oil vinaigrette and traditional Cobb salad of crispy bacon, a crumble of blue cheese, tomatoes, diced chicken, boiled egg, lettuce, avocado and a red wine vinaigrette.
For mains try the grilled prawn kebabs served on traditional bisque risotto; pan-fried fresh Norwegian salmon served with basil beurre blanc and thyme potato mash; an aged 300g sirloin steak with green peppercorn sauce and frites or the herb gnocchi served with artichoke, tomato confit sauce and olives.
There’s also more traditional bistro fare such as snails sautéed and served in gratinated potato; Bistro Michel’s terrine accompanied by onion confit and tartare de boeuf coupé au couteau “Classic” served with pommes frites.
Last year the restaurant added a popular gourmet burger option which also remains on the menu. Options include classic beef, chicken Hawaiian, Karoo lamb and vegetarian.
Bistro Michel also offers a good selection of local and international wines.
