As winter approaches it is the perfect time to give the skin a boost with some rejuvenation and at this time of year a series of peels are the perfect treat.
What is a chemical peel?
A chemical peel is a technique used to improve the appearance of the skin on the face, neck & décolletage or hands. A chemical solution is applied to the skin that causes it to exfoliate and eventually peel off. The new, regenerated skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin.
In standard treatment, different levels are applied to enable the process to take place and for the old skin to be shed and the amount of treatments varies. There are different strengths of treatment on offer and an appointment with Dr Zipp will ensure the correct one is chosen for you so that you will reap the benefits and enjoy fresh radiant skin.
There are three different peels on offer at Zipp Health:
Dermaceutic TCA (Cosmo) Peel:
TCA (trichloracetic acid) is a non-toxic chemical. When applied to the skin, TCA allows the top layers of cells to dry up and peel off; this action can take up to several days. Once complete, it exposes a new layer of skin which is smoother, even toned and undamaged. TCA peels can be used to treat sun damage and melasma.
Dermaceutic Milk Peel:
The milk peel is a superficial peel, and, as such, only affects the outermost layers of the skin. The formula is made up of 50% blend of glycolic, salicylic and lactic acids with a pH level of about 1.9. The peel can be used to treat fine lines, lighten the skin’s complexion and regulates oil and spot control.
Dermaceutic Mela Peel:
This peel will help reduce melasma and pigmentation and create a more even toned complexion, as well as enhance the radiance and brightness of the skin.
Another option for skin rejuvenation is the popular, Microneedling using Hyaluronic Acid:
Microneedling is also known as collagen induction therapy. This is a minimally invasive skin-rejuvenation procedure that involves the use of a device that contains fine needles applied perpendicular to the skin. The needles are used to puncture the skin to create a controlled skin injury. Each puncture creates a channel that triggers the body to fill these microscopic wounds by producing new collagen and elastin through oxygen and nutrient rich blood flow. Through the process of neovascularization and neocollagenesis, there is improvement in skin texture and firmness, as well as reduction in scars, pore size, and stretch marks. Hyaluronic acid a used to further stimulate collagen production and to hydrate and rejuvenate the skin, the Dermafix Hyaluronic acid serum is applied to the skin topically and is able to penetrate the skin better when used with Microneedling technology. 4 treatments is needed for best results, each treatment is to be done once a month. A good recovery cream is necessary after the procedure to speed up skin healing and to protect the skin. We offer this treatment at a discounted price of R800 per session.
